Launched in 2001, the .NAME top-level extension is the only one supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. At first, just 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you desired to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased 3rd-level names remained working.

You will have the chance to edit the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an existing domain to our company if you take its EPP transfer authorization key from the current registrar and we will renew it when the transfer has been finished. There are no specific terms on who can secure a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
